5 Turkish troops killed in PKK clashes

At least five Turkish soldiers have been killed in fresh confrontations with Kurdish militia in the restive southeast. The army says five soldiers were killed in clashes in the provinces of Mardin and Diyarbakir since Wednesday. The army has put the total number of PKK militants killed during the ongoing battles in the region to at least 244. In neighboring Shirnak province, locals who’ve begun returning to the town of Jizre are witnessing ruins and rubbles. Jizre and the Sur district in Diyarbakir have been under round-the-clock curfews since December. The Shirnak governor said a curfew from 1,900 to five in the morning would replace the 24-hour curfew that was lifted on Wednesday.
