Two officers killed in eastern Saudi Arabia
Two police officers have been killed in a shooting attack that targeted their vehicle in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province.
The police forces were escorting an armored truck transferring money in the town of Saihat in Qatif when their vehicle came under attack by unknown gunmen, local media quoted a police source as saying on Sunday.
Saudi police have launched an investigation into the attack.
Over the past week, Saudi authorities have reportedly arrested more than 30 “terror” suspects, including nine American citizens, from different parts of the kingdom. It is not clear whether the “terror suspects” were linked to the Takfiri Daesh terrorist group, which has claimed responsibility for several deadly attacks in Saudi Arabia’s Shia-majority Eastern Province.
At least four people were killed and 18 wounded in the latest such attack, which targeted the Imam Reza Mosque in the town of Mahasen in al-Ahsa on Friday.
The repetition of terrorist attacks on mosques and religious centers in eastern Saudi Arabia has caused anger among the local population. They accuse regime forces of failing to fulfill their duty of providing security for people.
