Iran leader awards medals to IRGC commanders
The Leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei awards medals of honor to IRGC commanders involved in arresting US sailors who trespassed into Iranian waters in the Persian Gulf.
IRGC’s Navy Commander Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi and four other commanders have been awarded Fath medals. Other members of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, involved in the operation, have been promoted to higher ranks. Earlier in January, ten American sailors aboard two military patrol boats drifted into the Persian Gulf waters and were detained by the IRGC. They were released after investigations showed the incident had been unintentional. Ayatollah Khamenei has praised IRGC's naval force for the move, calling it an excellent job.
