Israel’s settlement expansion policy preposterous: Analyst

Press TV has conducted an interview with E. Michael Jones, an editor with the Culture Wars from Indiana, to discuss reported plans by the Israeli regime to expand illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank.

The following is a rough transcription of the interview.

Press TV: I’m going to look at the comments made by Naftali Bennett, an Israeli minister, where he says annexing the West Bank to Israel is reasonable and sane, what do you make of that?

Jones: It’s preposterous. It’s the exact opposite of reason. What we’re seeing here is the working out of the internal logic of Zionism, which is an extreme form of Jewish nationalism. What we’re seeing here is the Jewish rebellion against what the Greeks call “logos” or reason. Reasonable people know the Jews simply can’t steal property of other people, but these are not reasonable people.

So what you’re seeing here is once more the demonstration of the Jewish virtue known as “chutzpah,” which is basically where you make outrageous demands, one outrageous demand after another, until finally the opposition collapses out of sheer exhaustion. So now this is the opposite of reason. This is completely irrational, it’s immoral.

Press TV: Are you at all concerned that such calls are being made so openly and so unapologetically?

Jones: I mean, this is the internal logic of Zionism. So when it’s made explicitly, it’s really no different than when it’s made implicitly. I mean, they stole the land in 1948.

They’re going to keep stealing the land until some type of external force stops them from stealing the land, because, when you don’t have reason, you don’t recognize any boundaries. You expand and you expand until you’re stopped from the outside.

Press TV: Speaking of expanding and expanding, it seems Israel is doubling down on its settlement construction, 55,000 settler units east of Jerusalem (al-Quds) and the world is silently watching this happen. There have been condemnations, but nothing more.

Jones: No, I mean, the Jews control the media; so, that’s the explanation for the silence. But what you’re seeing is the development of the reaction to this in places like Europe with the sanctions move. So it’s not as if nothing is happening. Every time there’s an action like this, there is a reaction. It may not get reported, but what they’re doing is basically turning world opinion against themselves. And we’re in for a long process of basically the change, the Jews, the Israelis, the Zionists acting the way that will lead to their total ostracism by civilized people throughout the world.

Press TV: But do you think this is going to increase the already high tensions in the occupied West Bank specifically as we now see at least 135 Palestinians have been killed since October alone?

Jones: Yes, It will increase the tensions. The only thing that is going to decrease tensions is rational behavior. And rational behavior is not something you could expect from these people. No matter what they say. That’s the problem.
