US seeks to prolong Syria conflict: Analyst
Press TV has interviewed Ryan Dawson, a human rights activist from Japan, to discuss a temporary truce between the Syrian government and certain terrorists operating across Syria.
Dawson said terrorist groups in the past have used similar temporary ceasefires to regroup themselves.
“They went across the border in Turkey, rearmed, came back to Syria and started fighting again.”
Buses have relocated hundreds of members of Takfiri Daesh terrorists and other militants fighting against the Syrian government from southern Damascus to other areas under a UN-brokered ceasefire.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Dawson said the West and its regional allies were not targeting militant positions across Syria.
“They are supporting ethnic cleansing of Kurds, they are supporting ethnic cleansing of Palestinians and they have been indirectly financing ISIL (Daesh).”
The US and its allies have been engaged in an aerial campaign against alleged Daesh position in Iraq and Syria since last August and September respectively. Many have questioned the effectiveness of the airstrikes.
The analyst also praised the Russian and Iranian government’s stance on Syria, saying they were seeking a political settlement through elections in the Arab country.
Russia launched its military campaign against terrorists operating in Syria on September 30 upon a request from the Damascus government.
The analyst concluded by saying that the United States was attempting to prolong the conflict in Syria by assisting al-Qaeda and other militant groups operating in the country.
“But the US is not interested in that. They are interested in prolonging the conflict on purpose and it is intentional.”
