At least 13 dead 30 injured in Mexico bus-van crash
At least 13 people have been killed and more than 30 others injured after a bus and van collided in southern Mexico, officials say.
The accident occurred in the village of Los Limones on a road that runs close to the Pacific coast in the state of Oaxaca on Sunday, authorities confirmed.
Officials reported earlier that at least 15 people had died, but corrected that toll late Sunday.
Earlier this year, 16 were killed and another 22 injured after a passenger bus and a freight train collided at a grade crossing in northern Mexico.
In April last year, a bus accident in Mexico’s southern state of Veracruz left 36 people dead and four others injured.
Road accidents are one of the main causes of death in Mexico. Approximately four million traffic accidents occur in Mexico that claim around 24,000 lives a year, which amounts to almost double the number of people who die from drug violence.
