Three killed in raid on suspected militant’s home in Lebanon
At least three people have been killed in northern Lebanon during a raid on the home of a suspected militant.
Two civilians and the suspect, who blew himself up, lost their lives during the raid by security forces in the town of Deir al Ammar, northeast of Tripoli. At least 10 others were wounded, including four security personnel.
Lebanon has conducted a series of security raids since two deadly bombings struck the capital, Beirut, last month.
On November 12, 44 people were killed and some 240 others wounded when two large explosions claimed by the Takfiri Daesh terrorist group targeted the Hussainiyah Street in the crowded Burj al-Barajneh neighborhood in a southern suburb of Beirut.
According to Lebanese officials, the terrorists initially planned to send five attackers to a hospital in the area. However, the plan was changed due to heavy security presence.
So far, about a dozen people have been detained in connection with the blasts, including seven Syrian nationals and two Lebanese.
Daesh terrorists have been committing gruesome crimes and terrorizing members of various communities, including Shias, Sunnis, Kurds and Christians in the Middle East.
Over the past months, Lebanon’s army and the country’s resistance movement Hezbollah have been carrying out operations against the terrorist groups of al-Nusra Front and Daesh in the town of Arsal on the border with Syria. Hezbollah has also been helping the government in Damascus in its fight against terrorists in Syria.
