10 civilians killed in multiple Iraq attacks
Multiple attacks have rocked different parts of Iraq’s vast Baghdad Province, leaving at least 10 civilians dead, officials say.
A police officer, who was speaking on condition of anonymity, said three shoppers were killed and eight others injured after a bomb went off on Tuesday in an outdoor market in Sabaa Al Bour neighborhood, located approximately 18 miles (25 kilometers) northwest of the Iraqi capital city of Baghdad.
Another unnamed police officer also said that three more civilians were killed while seven others sustained injuries in a second bomb blast in Baghdad’s eastern suburb of Husseinia.
The officer added that a third bomb hit a parking lot in the Baghdad’s Sha’ab neighborhood, leaving two civilians dead and seven others wounded.
Meanwhile, two merchants were killed in a drive-by shooting in Baghdad Province’s southern neighborhood of Dora.
Three medical officials, whose names were not released in reports, confirmed the number of casualties.
No group or individual has taken responsibility for the attacks.
The northern and western parts of Iraq have been plagued by the Takfiri Daesh terrorists, who began spreading terror through some parts of the Iraqi territory in June 2014.
Army soldiers and Popular Mobilization Units have teamed up to take back militant-held regions.
The United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq says a total of 717 Iraqis were killed and another 1,216 wounded in acts of terrorism, violence and armed conflict in September alone.
