Anonymous American whistleblower releases classified documents on Obama’s drone war

The United States has been using its assassination drones in both declared and undeclared war zones for over a decade. That’s according to a cache of classified documents released by an anonymous American whistle-blower referred to by media as the New Snowden.

The documents posted by the online publication, the Intercept, suggest drones have been President Barack Obama’s weapon of choice and are being used by the military and the CIA. The documents contain two sets of slides detailing the US drone war in several Muslims countries in Asia and Africa. They reveal that Washington categorizes unidentified drone victims as enemies in order to hide the true numbers of civilian casualties. According to the whistleblower, the US intelligence intercepts phones and emails to fix its targets. He says such methods often prove faulty with nearly nine out of 10 fatalities being innocent people including US citizens. One document shows the drones killed 200 people in Yemen and Somalia between 2012 and 2013 BUT only 35 were the intended targets.
