An Israeli man has shot and seriously injured a Palestinian woman in al-Quds (Jerusalem), claiming she had attacked and stabbed him.

Israeli police spokeswoman, Luba Samri, said the Palestinian woman was shot on Wednesday by an armed Israeli man in the occupied al-Quds’ Old City, without identifying her.

The female victim was transferred to a hospital and is said to be in critical condition.

The attack came a few days after Israeli forces shot dead another Palestinian in al-Quds after purporting that he had attacked and killed two Israelis while injuring two others.

Meanwhile, reports said that Israeli forces have shot a cameraman working for the Lebanon-based Arabic-language al-Manar satellite television network during clashes in in the West Bank city of al-Khalil (Hebron).

This comes amid an upsurge in violence in al-Quds and the occupied West Bank, where Israeli forces have been attacking Palestinian protesters.

Earlier on Wednesday, Palestinian sources said Israeli settlers stormed the Dar Salah village, east of Bethlehem in the West Bank, and then fired indiscriminately at the local residents.

Reports added that two Palestinians suffered wounds as a result, who were transported to hospital to receive medical treatment. One of the injured Palestinians is reportedly in critical condition.

According to the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS), over 120 Palestinians have sustained injuries in Tuesday clashes with Israeli soldiers and illegal settlers across the West Bank and al-Quds.

Israeli forces have also killed several Palestinian youths over the past few days, including a 13-year-old teenager, identified as Abdel Rahman Abdullah, who was shot in the chest on Monday at the Aida refugee camp.
