Victorious Syriza party says Greece will implement bailout deal

The head of Greece’s left-wing Syriza party, who has won Sunday’s parliamentary elections, says he will form a coalition government with the right-wing party Independent Greeks.

Addressing thousands of jubilant supporters in central Athens, Alexis Tsipras said he’s joining forces once again with the Independent Greeks with whom he governed from January until last month. Panos Kammenos, the head of the nationalist Independent Greeks joined Tsipras on stage. Official results show with 90 percent of the votes counted, Syriza had over 35-point-five percent of the vote and 145 seats in the 300-member parliament. The conservative New Democracy is behind Syriza with 28-point-zero-five percent. The Independent Greeks are in the seventh place with three-point-six percent and ten seats. Meanwhile, Syriza’s spokeswoman has said the party will implement the bailout agreement it signed with its international lenders.
