Al-Qaeda calls for more lone wolf attacks on US, West

Al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri

Al-Qaeda’s chief Ayman al-Zawahiri has called on Takfiri militants to carry out more lone wolf attacks in the US and other Western countries.

"We must now focus on moving the war to the heart of the homes and cities of the crusader West and specifically America," said Zawahiri in an audio message shared online Sunday.

Zawahiri called on militants in Iraq and Syria to “collaborate and help each other,” adding that they must not hesitate and “identify their targets... and find the means to attack, avoiding spies and moving into action."

Referring to the US-led coalition in Iraq and Syria, he said, “They must know that as they bomb us they will be bombed, as they kill they will be killed, as they injure they will be injured, as they destroy they will be destroyed, as they damage and burn, so they will be damaged and burned."

He also urged Western youths to follow the path of the Tsarnaev and Kouachi brothers, who carried out the Boston marathon bombing on April 15, 2013 and Charlie Hebdo shootings in Paris on January 7 respectively.

Zawahiri further reiterated his position on the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group. In a recording posted last week, he rejected Daesh rule as a caliphate, but said would join the group in the battle against Western forces in Iraq and Syria.
