AIPAC using US military power for Israeli expansionism: Analyst

“AIPAC is essentially the American arm of the Likud Party, which is a right wing party in Israel, a radical Zionist party,” said Preston.

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), the most potent pro-Israel group in the United States, is using US military power to advance Israel’s expansionism, says a political analyst in Virginia.

“AIPAC is essentially the American arm of the Likud Party, which is a right wing party in Israel, a radical Zionist party” and it “essentially controls American foreign policy in the Middle East,” said Kieth Preston, chief editor and director of AttacktheSystem.com.

“Their only objective is to use American military power as an arm of Israeli expansionism and the goal there has always been to create an American-Israeli co-prosperity sphere that involves not only the Israeli expansionism, but it also involves eliminating nations that stand in the way of this ambition, like Iran, like Syria, like Hezbollah in Lebanon,” Preston told Press TV on Sunday.

He made the remarks when asked about American civil rights leader Reverend Al Sharpton, who has called on black churches in the US to counter the Israel lobby’s massive campaign against the Iran nuclear agreement and work in favor of it.

“I am calling on ministers in black churches nationwide to go to their pulpits Sunday and have their parishioners call their senators and congressmen to vote yes on the Iran nuclear plan,” Sharpton, a Baptist minister and television/radio talk show host, said on Friday.

Preston said, “In this particular case he (Sharpton) is absolutely correct in the sense that the Israel lobby is going out of its way now to counter the deal that was made with Iran.”

“The one thing that the Obama administration has done right is try to work out this deal and eventually have the sanctions against Iran lifted and of course to prevent a potential war between Iran and the United States at some point in the future,” he added.

The analyst also noted that US wars in the Middle East, which are mostly waged under the influence of Israel, have contributed to the growing racial divide in the country as minorities and the poor are disproportionately represented in the US military.

“The American military forces are overwhelmingly drawn by from the poor in the working class of all racial and ethnic groups in the United States,” he said. “Ethnic minorities in the United States are disproportionately represented in the American military: African Americans, Hispanic American, Native Americans and so forth.”

“So when the Israel lobby, when the various other forces that control American foreign policy in the Middle East, are out there gearing up for these wars, it’s going to be these young people form disadvantaged background who are going to do most of the killing and fighting and dying in these particular wars,” Preston added.

AIPAC is spending about $40 million to run TV advertisements in 35 states urging US lawmakers to reject the Iran agreement when Congress votes on it in September.
