US has been exposed as ‘murderous bully’: Anti-war activist

The US has been exposed before the whole world as a murderous bully, says Joe Iosbaker.

China is the only world power that can challenge American imperialism, an anti-war activist in Chicago says, adding that the US has been exposed as a “murderous bully.”

“They [China] are seen now by US imperialism as the only economic power in the world that can challenge the US,” said Joe Iosbaker, a leader of the United National Antiwar Coalition and a member of the Committee to Stop FBI Repression.

“I think that is positive that someone can challenge the US, that’s my starting point in how I think about China as an anti-war activist,” Iosbaker told Press TV on Wednesday.

He made the comments as tensions between Washington and Beijing are growing over its island-building in the South China Sea and over suspicions that Chinese hackers were behind a massive cyber attack into a US government server.

Washington accuses Beijing of rapidly building up to 800 hectares (2,000 acres) of artificial islands in the Spratlys, an archipelago of more than a hundred islands, reefs and atolls between Vietnam and the Philippines.

Beijing claims sovereignty over nearly all of the South China Sea, which is also claimed in part by Taiwan, Brunei, Vietnam, Malaysia and the Philippines.

Last month, a US official said the Pentagon was considering sending military aircraft and warships to confront Chinese territorial claims.

Observers believe America’s efforts to increase its presence in the Asia-Pacific region is aimed at containing China.

“China has no history of aggression in the world to speak of, they have no troops outside of their borders,” Iosbaker said. “The US on the other hand is exposed before the whole world as a murderous bully."

He said the recent hacking allegations against China is a tactic by the Obama administration to distract attention from the massive US surveillance programs on Internet and phone communications which were disclosed by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden.

“No one on earth is electronically spying on more people and more nations than the US and everyone knows it,” Iosbaker said.
