Bin Laden wanted to know truth about 9/11: US scholar

American scholar Dr. Kevin Barrett says the release of US documents shows that Osama bin Laden wanted to know the truth about the September 11, 2001 attacks.

An American scholar in Wisconsin says the release of US intelligence documents - assuming they are authentic - shows that Osama bin Laden was also interested in knowing the truth about the September 11, 2001 attacks, despite the fact that the al-Qaeda leader was blamed by the US for orchestrating the attacks.

Dr. Kevin Barrett, a founding member of the Scientific Panel for the Investigation of 9/11, made the remarks in a phone interview with Press TV on Wednesday.

“There’s a very interesting news story today about the Obama administration declassifying documents allegedly seized from Bin Laden’s compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, during a raid by the CIA and Navy SEALs that supposedly killed Bin Laden in May 2011,” Dr. Barrett said.

"It’s very interesting that the media is reporting that about half of the English-language books that Bin Laden possessed were ‘conspiracy theory books’, including The New Pearl Harbor by David Ray Griffin, which is actually the seminal study of what actually happened on September 11th, 2001, showing the evidence that it was an inside job,” he added.

On Wednesday, the Obama administration released an extensive list of materials what they said were collected by US Navy SEALs during the 2011 raid that killed Bin Laden.

“Now the question arises whether or not this is all authentic. We really can’t believe anything that we hear from the American government these days,” Dr. Barrett stated.

“And we have seen the previous Bin Laden material that was attested by the US government that turned out to be false. For instance, the fatty Bin Laden confession video showing an overweight imposter, who barely resembles Bin Laden, supposedly taking some degree of credit for the September 11th attacks, in fact was proven to be a forgery,” he pointed out.

“In fact, I actually spoke with the leading Bin Laden experts here in the United States who attested that it’s a fraud. And the government never gave us any chain of possession, so we couldn’t be assured how that alleged video ever reached the government,” he revealed.

“And that’s just one example of dozens and dozens examples of similar US government lies about Bin Laden and 9/11,” Dr. Barrett said.

“So the question that arises is what we make of this.”

Osama bin Laden watches TV at his Abbottabad, Pakistan, compound in a frame grab from an undated video from the Pentagon.

“The government tells us that Bin Laden owned a shelf of 9/11 truth books, and other so-called conspiracy literature, alongside analyses by scholars like Noam Chomsky and Michael Scheuer. Both of whom are unwilling to fully address the inside job coup d'etat of September 11, 2001, but who are critical of US foreign policy in other respects,” he said.

“So based on this list, it appears that Bin Laden - assuming that this is real - had  very good taste in reading material, and was fully aware that he was, as he said earlier, completely innocent of any involvement in the 9/11 attacks,” said Dr. Barrett, who is also a founding member of the Muslim-Jewish-Christian Alliance.

The September, 11, 2001 attacks, also known as the 9/11 attacks, were a series of strikes in the US which killed nearly 3,000 people and caused about $10 billion worth of property and infrastructure damage.

US officials assert that the attacks were carried out by al-Qaeda terrorists but many experts have raised questions about the official account.

They believe that rogue elements within the US government orchestrated or at least encouraged the 9/11 attacks in order to accelerate the US war machine and advance the Zionist agenda.

The September, 11, 2001 attacks were a series of strikes in the US which killed nearly 3,000 people.

“In September and October of 2001, Bin Laden repeatedly gave interviews to the Pakistani media, in which he pointed out that the September 11th attacks were un-Islamic because they targeted civilians,” said Dr. Barrett.

“And he deplored these un-Islamic attacks and said that they were conducted by forces within the United States, hinting that he was speaking of the Zionist lobby or some elements of it.

“So, then the question would arise of why Bin Laden would spend all of those years not clearly reiterating what he said in September and October of 2001, which was that  September 11th was an inside job.

“Maybe we’ll never know the answer to this. Maybe we’ll never know whether the US government is telling the truth about the alleged raid that assassinated him.

“But I would hope that we would, and I would hope that, because September 11th is the most important historical issue of the 21st century, that people all over the world, especially here in the United States would demand the truth.

“It is simply unacceptable to allow the most influential and important historical event of our times to go uninvestigated and to go mythologized. We need the truth about September 11th.

“Bin Laden apparently was - if this is true - interested in the truth about September 11th. That certainly means that he’s not the terrorist fanatic, bent on slaughtering American civilians, as he was depicted in the mythology.”
