Press TV has conducted an interview with Jamal Wakim, a professor at the Lebanese International University from Beirut, to discuss an agreement on the formation of a democratic transitional council by the opposing sides in Yemen’s conflict.

Wakim says this agreement is a very important step toward establishing a new government in Yemen which is not fully under the supervision of Saudi Arabia.

The process of forming a democratic transitional council might get blocked by the United States and its allies because it is viewed as taking Yemen away from the American influence, the academic argues.
