Muslim group condemns vandalism attack on US Islamic school

The Council on American-Islamic Relations, CAIR, has called on local and national law enforcement authorities to investigate a vandalism attack on an Islamic institution in Rhode Island.

America’s largest Muslim advocacy group has urged state officials to apprehend and bring to justice the perpetrators of the act of vandalism. Unknown assailants broke into the Islamic School of Rhode Island in West Warwick over the weekend and sprayed anti-Muslim, racial slurs on the walls. According to CAIR, American leaders should address the recent spike in anti-Muslim hate rhetoric and biased assaults and harassment of Muslim citizens and institutions across the nation. The incident comes a few days after a man shot dead three Muslim students in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The killings sparked outrage among the American Muslim community, which described it as a hate crime.
