Iranians went to the polls in large numbers on Friday to elect a new president for a four-year term. Long queues of voters were formed outside polling stations countrywide, with journalists capturing numerous scenes of the enthusiasm on Election Day in photos.

Iranians from different religious communities — including Jews, Christians and Zoroastrians — join their Muslim compatriots to cast their votes in the homeland’s key presidential election.
