More Iran universities offer to welcome those expelled from US colleges
Two more reputable Iranian universities offer to provide favorable educational circumstances to students who have been expelled from US colleges for protesting over the ongoing US-backed Israeli genocide against the Gaza Strip.
The announcements were made on Thursday by the presidents of Iran University of Science & Technology (IUST) and Allameh Tabataba'i University (ATU).
“The university offers to admit the expelled pro-Palestinian students and provide them with the same conditions and bonuses that they used to enjoy in their own country,” said Mansour Anbia, the IUST president.
ATU President Abdollah Mo’tamedi also said the university was “prepared to offer scholarships and teach the Persian language to the expelled pro-Palestinian students and professors.”
The American students began their protests on April 18, raging against the war and Washington’s generous support for the brutal military onslaught that has so far claimed the lives of at least 34,622 Palestinians, mostly women and children.
They have also been calling on their colleges to divest financial holdings linked to the Israeli regime.
Cracking down on the demonstrations, the US police have so far arrested about 2,200 people.
Also on Thursday, Seyed Mahmoud Aghamiri, dean of Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran, said the school would offer scholarships to students in the US and Europe, who had been expelled for taking part in pro-Palestinian demonstrations on campuses.
A day earlier, Shiraz University became the first Iranian academic center to offer American students and professors who had been forced out of their schools or threatened with expulsion to continue their studies at the prestigious academic center.
