An American
journalist describes the U.S. assassination drone attacks as the most
undemocratic and imperialistic way of staging war.
“The use of
drones is the most undemocratic and imperialist method of waging warfare,” said
Abayomi Azikiwe, the editor of Pan-African News Wire.
Such attacks
“assume that the people who are targeted are guilty without any evidence being
presented in a court of law,” he added.
“These drones
have killed many innocent men, women and children most of the people who are
negatively impacted by the drone program are people who are not being targeted
by the United States government.”
Azikiwe further
called for finding methods to identify those behind the drone attacks in order
to hold them accountable for their actions.
He added that
former Central Intelligence Agency General Blair is considered the architect of
the drone program and “therefore he is one of the people who should be held
accountable.”
Azikiwe also
criticized the Obama administration for “intensifying and expanding” the zone of
drone strikes.
“The Obama
administration has passed legislation in the Congress and declared immunity from
any type of international legal body to level any kind of charges or even an
investigation into the role of the Bush or Obama administrations in carrying out
targeted assassinations,” he concluded.
