
A priest at
the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Ohio was arrested after showing up
for what he thought would be a meeting to have sex with underage boys,
authorities said.
Patrick Hughes, 56, posted an ad on an adult website
that was “indicative of someone looking for sexual relations with children,”
according to a release from the Franklin County sheriff’s office.
A detective with
the Internet Crimes Against Children task force responded, leading Hughes to set
up a meeting for a sexual encounter with whom he thought were two boys ages 9
and 14, the release said.
Hughes was arrested at 7 p.m. on Tuesday when
he showed up at the meeting location, the release said.
He was charged
with attempted rape, a second-degree felony, and attempted unlawful sexual
contact with a minor, a fourth-degree felony. Dispatch
He was being
