CNN
will debut its documentary on President Obama on Monday and kick off the
network's official coverage of the 2012 Democratic National Convention.
CNN,
along with cable news rival MSNBC, produced documentaries that precede the
candidates' respective conventions. While Republican presidential candidate Mitt
Romney sat down with both networks, Obama only granted an interview to CNN.
"Obama Revealed: The Man, The President," will be hosted by chief White House
correspondent Jessica Yellin, who has covered the president since the 2008 Iowa
Caucuses.
In
an interview with The Huffington Post, Yellin said her challenge in reporting
the documentary was twofold. The chief White House correspondent said that she
sought to give viewers a sense of Obama's leadership as president and "who he is
as a man." The
documentary explores how Obama tackled what many would describe as the
biggest moments of his presidency, and how his handling of those situations
reflected his governing style and personal character. Huffington Post
The
ninety-minute documentary also includes interviews with Sec. of State Hillary
Clinton, former White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, and longtime personal
aide Reggie Love. theblaze.com Regarding
his relationships with Congress or Republicans Yellin said that if anyone thinks
the president is not a great transactional politician, he set the record
straight in my interview, saying he's really just being a good Dad. He said the
time he carves out to be with his family is often perceived, by those in the
Beltway, as an unwillingness to socialize with members of Congress. Really, he
said, he has prioritized time with his wife and two daughters.
politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com Regarding
the president's closest advisers Yellin said Larry Summers, Austan Goolsbee and
Christina Romer all said the administration's efforts helped keep the nation out
of anther Great Depression. But Rahm Emanuel, President Obama's former chief of
staff,
said they felt Republicans organized against them from Day One, even
during the financial crisis, something he said Democrats did not do in 2008.

can expect to watch Yellin report live primarily from the convention floor as
the network covers the DNC in Charlotte, North Carolina. "Obama Revealed: The
Man, The President" premieres on Monday, Sept. 3 on CNN at 8:00
p.m.
