President Barack
Obama and Vice President Joe Biden have criticized Republican challenger Mitt
Romney for sending U.S. jobs overseas and paying no heed to the impact on
American workers as well as how damaging this policy has been.
LA playwright
and author David Macaray believes that if you asked the average American worker
what it meant to see jobs leave the country, the answer would be very obvious.
"Even with the minimum wage, and you can't live on that, we are trying to compete with those countries who are paying far far less. We have lost millions of jobs in truth,” He said in a phone interview with Press TV's U.S. Desk on Wednesday.
One of the reasons behind such a huge wealth gap in the United States, Macaray said, is because those jobs went overseas.
He said one of
the very unsettling feelings that labor and the average voter had is that
President Obama really doesn't have a “viable plan” for “maintaining American
jobs or retrieving any of the jobs that went to Singapore or China or
India."
