A CODEPINK activist says that Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is spending $55 billion to stifle and to silence the voices of the people in Chicago and around the United States.

"People have come from around the world to protest this organization called NATO," Tighe Barry, a CODEPINK Activist, made the remarks in an exclusive interview with Press TV's U.S. Desk on Saturday.

"NATO is merely a front group for U.S. imperialist wars that it wants to conduct around the world. We see the United States sending its tentacles, its military bases into places, exotic places like Saudi Arabia and we remember that one of Osama Bin Laden's problems with the United States was [that] it had military bases in Saudi Arabia," said Barry.

He added that they were in a park in Chicago and were protesting the closure of mental health facilities and planned to walk to Rahm Emanuel's [home], the city of Chicago's Mayor, and "demand that he starts directing the money that he is paid for, by the taxpayer in Chicago, and in Illinois, to their proper places such as education, making new jobs, opening up new hospitals instead of closing hospitals that already exist."
