International trade ministers and corporate lobbyists are descending on Texas from May 8-18 for a critical trade summit aimed at rushing the secretive new Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) Free Trade Agreement toward completion. Bob Cash, Director of the Texas Fair Trade Coalition spoke to Press TV's U.S. Desk on Wednesday about what his group planned to do.

Cash said that his coalition had been working for more than ten years to "educate Texans on the current Free Trade regime and how it harms working Texans. In this case, when we found out that the Trans-Pacific Partnership negotiations were coming to Addison Texas, our members in Dallas began work involving the coalition and contacted Occupy Dallas activists who have joined the coalition and are playing a major role in it."

He added that they had a press conference on Tuesday to publicize what was going on in Addison "and that is a very secretive Trade negotiations that at this point in almost every other trade negotiations, the text, the draft text, has been published so that the public can make comments and see what is being negotiated in their names. And that is not the case with the Trans-Pacific Partnership."
