'There is a terribly wide gap between the rich and the poor in this country'
Rev. William E.
Alberts, a Unitarian Universalist and former hospital chaplain at
Boston
Medical Center told Press TV's U.S. Desk in an
interview on Tuesday, "There is a terribly wide gap between the rich and the poor in this country and the Occupy Wall Street
movement is addressing that."
Rev. Alberts
continued, "I think that religious leaders need to be involved in this."
He added that "There
are certain clergy involved but there needs to be the leadership in religions
involved in this. Martin Luther King Jr. was involved in it. He raised the
question about why are there 40 million poor people in this country and he
connected that to the war in Vietnam. And the Occupy Wall Street
movement is connecting that now, that terrible gap between the rich and the poor
to the merchants of war in this country and to foreign wars and invasions that
are really criminal and are hurting all kinds of people abroad of course and at
home as well."
