U.S. mayors, for the first time since the Vietnam War, have taken a stand against America's conflicts worldwide, seeking to end U.S. engagement in wars, says CODEPINK co-founder Medea Benjamin.

"There are mayors around the country who are asking the very question about how can the Congress have such skewed priorities where it continues to put billions of dollars every week into endless unwinnable wars while they're cutting essential programs like providing school lunches or healthcare to millions of Americans who don't have it," Benjamin told Press TV's U.S. Desk on Sunday.

She further said that the mayors "most of whom are Democrats" have stood up to "their own members of congress and the White House to say 'Stop the misappropriation of our funds.'"
