China has hit back against criticism of its stance on the issue of Syria, lashing out at the countries that “do not want diplomatic solution to the Syrian crisis”.
"These countries, in pursuit of their own geopolitical interests in Syria, are trying to hinder or even undermine the political settlement process,” said Wang Kejian, a senior official in the Chinese foreign ministry on Saturday.
China, along with Russia, has vetoed three UN Security Council resolutions against the Syrian government and has repeatedly said that only a Syrian solution would end the country's months-long crisis not the foreign intervention.
