Anne Kennedy, the 49-year-old British woman, has announced her conversion to Islam at a news conference in the besieged Gaza Strip during the holy month of Ramadan.

On Sunday July 21, in a press conference held at the headquarter of the Palestinian Muslim Scholars Association, Anne Kennedy adopted the name of Khadijah, the name of the Prophet Mohammad’s (PBUH) wife.

The newly Muslim woman said that Yusuf Hassan from the Khan Younis City, southern Gaza strip, made her acquainted with the Islam through internet and she accepted the religion without any obligation.

Khadijah who now wears hijab after her conversion to Islam also stressed that Hassan gave her information about God the Exalted and the Islam religion, which is unique among the religions, and she learned many lessons from the enlightening faith.

Saying that she feels very happy to be joined the Islam religion, Khadijah added that she has started learning the Holy Qu’ran.

Furthermore, she expressed her satisfaction of bringing Islam in the blockaded Gaza Strip as “Muslims’ defensive castle”.

British citizen Khadijah, who has BA degrees in economics and political science and a MA degree in the major of philosophy, teaches religion in London.

Earlier on June, the Swiss professional footballer, Philippe Senderos who plays as a defender for the British Premier League club Fulham embraced Islam and converted to the Shia Muslim religion.
