Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir has highlighted the significance of the strategic relations between his country and Iran and called for strengthening bilateral cooperation.

The Sudanese president urged the enhancement of the ties with Iran during a meeting with Iran's Vice President for International Affairs Ali Saeedlou, who is currently on a three-day official visit to Khartoum.

The two sides exchanged views on ways to expand mutual relations.

Saeedlou extended an official invitation by Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to his Sudanese counterpart to take part in a next Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit in Tehran.

During his stay in Khartoum, the Iranian vice president is scheduled to hold talks with senior Sudanese officials and inaugurate development projects implemented by Iranian firms in the African country.
