National Iranian men’s futsal team has registered an impressive win against the Palestinian squad in its second match of the preliminary round of the 3rd West Asia Men's Futstal Championship.
The hosts, who started the campaign to defend their title with a 9-2 victory against their Kuwaiti rivals on April 27, outclassed Palestine 19-1 in the 6,000-seater Ghadir stadium of Orumiyeh, the provincial capital of West Azarbaijan in northwest Iran, on Sunday.
Iran’s Mohammad Keshavarz Nasrabadi opened the scoring only one minute into the match. Two minutes later, Ali Asghar Hassan Navlighe seized a perfect chance to put the ball into the back of the net and double Iran’s lead.
Vahid Shamsaie scored the third goal for Iran in the 4th minute. A minute after, Ali Asghar Hassan Navlighe came from behind to score Iran’s fourth goal.
Javad Asghari Moghaddam, Hossein Tayebibidgoli, Ahmad Esmailpour, Mohammad Keshavarz Nasrabadi and Ali Asghar Hassan Navlighe scored other Iran’s goals in the 7th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 22nd, 28th, 32nd, 33rd, 34th and 38th minute of the first half.
Tareq Abugheneima managed to earn Palestine’s sole goal in the 34th minute.
In another match of the day, Jordan drew 4-4 with Kuwait.
A total of five teams from Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait and Palestine have taken part in the 3rd West Asia Men's Futstal Championship, which began on April 27 and wraps up on May 2.
The games are held only in one group, with each of the participating teams having to play four games.
Jordan leads the table with 7 points from three matches, while Iran has 6 points from two matches.
Iraq has 3 points from two games, and Kuwait has only one point following a draw with Jordan. Palestine remains pointless.
