During clashes in Cairo's iconic Liberation Square, several members of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood have reportedly been injured.

The clashes took place late Saturday when a number of protesters began attacking members of the Muslim Brotherhood preparing to leave the square.

The protesters accused the Muslim Brotherhood of taking advantage of the country's revolution.

Those injured have been transferred to a hospital in Cairo.

Meanwhile, the Muslim Brotherhood's Mahmoud Qazalan has condemned the protesters' accusations.

The Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) secured the biggest share of seats in the country's new parliament. The Muslim Brotherhood's Saad al-Katatni was also elected as speaker of the Egyptian parliament.

On January 25, Egyptians marked the first anniversary of their country's popular revolution, which eventually led to the ouster of dictator Hosni Mubarak in February 2011.

Since the ouster of Mubarak, who is currently on trial for ordering a deadly crackdown on demonstrators, SCAF has been ruling Egypt despite repeated calls by disgruntled people who have been demanding civilian rule.
