Iran FM off to Turkey for econ. meeting

Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi has departed Tehran for Turkey to take part in the 23rd meeting of Iran-Turkey joint economic commission in the Turkish capital of Ankara.


The 23rd Iran-Turkey Joint Economic Commission will hold a session on Thursday.

The preliminary expert meeting of the commission was held on Monday.

Salehi is also scheduled to review issues of mutual interests and latest regional developments in talks with a number of senior Turkish officials during his two-day tour of the country.

Iran and Turkey, both members of the Economic Cooperation Organization, enjoy a thriving trade and economic ties.

Iran-Turkey trade has significantly climbed in recent years, reaching USD 11 billion in 2010, compared with USD 1 billion in 2000.
