The Turkish city of Konya has mounted an exhibition of fifteen artworks created by a group of contemporary Iranian calligraphy masters.

The event has been organized by the Iranian Calligraphers Association and will run for two weeks, ISNA reported.

The showcased items include Nasta'liq and cursive Nasta'liq works inspired by poems of mystic Persian poet Mowlavi who has been laid to rest in Konya.

Some of the works are also inspired by poems composed about Ashura, the day when the forces of the second Umayyad caliph martyred the third Shia Imam, Imam Hussein (PBUH) and 72 of his companions in Karbala more than 14 centuries ago.

The exhibition will run until December 17, 2011.
