Contemporary Art in the Natural World 2012 Wall Calendar features works by three Iranian artists including environmental artist Ahmad Nadalian.
The US calendar's initial page shows Joy of Reliving by Nadalian.
“For the past decade, I have dropped my carved stones into rivers, canals, reservoirs and seas,” the calendar's website quoted the Iranian sculptor as saying.
“In the north of Iran, images of fish or snakes are believed to indicate treasure, blessings, and fertility,” said Nadalin whose works are mainly symbolic and focus on themes of fertility and creation.
Supported and sponsored by different international organizations, most of Nadalian's carvings have been scattered across the globe. His works embody the natural elements water, earth, fire and air.
His rock-carvings can be found in many countries including the US, the UK, Italy, Germany, Spain, France, China, the Netherlands, Greece, Russia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Bangladesh, Finland, Lebanon, Syria, Azerbaijan, Sweden, Denmark, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Turkey, Switzerland and Serbia.
Some of the Iranian artist's small stone-carvings have been buried as 'Hidden Treasures' to be unearthed by future generations.
Tara Goudarzi and Atefeh Khas are the other two artists whose works from the collection A Flower for the Nature appear on the March page, which is associated with the Iranian New Year (Nowruz) starting on March 21st.
