If wishing upon a shooting star makes a dream come true, then the Chinese have a pretty prosperous life ahead after witnessing this mesmerizing meteor shower.

The Geminid Meteor Shower lit up China’s sky on Tuesday night and reached its peak during the early hours of Wednesday.

The phenomenon happens on an annual basis but Beijing’s sky had even more to offer this year since the celestial show also featured the super-moon.

This means that the moon was also at its closest point to the Earth during its monthly orbit. While the brightness of the moon made it slightly more difficult to see the shooting stars, stargazers still enjoyed a good show of whizzing meteors.

On top of everything, there was a chance to hear the bits of space debris collide with the Earth’s atmosphere for the more equipped sky enthusiasts.
