Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif says the Islamic Republic attaches great significance to the expansion of ties with its neighboring countries.
“The priority of the Administration of Hope and Wisdom’s foreign policy is [based on] the expansion of relations with neighbors and there is no limit to mutual ties,” Zarif said in a meeting with Turkmenistan's Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov in Ashgabat on Monday.
Zarif, who is in Ashgabat to attend the 13th session of Iran-Turkmenistan Joint Economic Commission, added that the current visit by senior Iranian delegation indicates the importance that Tehran attaches to ties with its neighboring states.
“The borders of the two countries are the borders of friendship and can also become the border of the two states’ development and regional and international cooperation,” the top Iranian diplomat stated.
Zarif added that bilateral cooperation in oil and gas sectors can be served as a model for other countries in the region.
