Researchers have achieved successes in proteins’ detection by laser photo therapy that may lead to the curing of brain diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.
A team of researchers at Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden and the Polish Wroclaw University of Technology, during a joint project, has made the discovery.
The study granted them to distinguish those proteins that cause diseases, from the well-functioning proteins in the body through photo therapy of laser, according to the journal Nature Photonics
“This is a totally new approach and we believe that this might become a breakthrough in the research of diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease,” says Piotr Hanczyc at Chalmers University of Technology.
"Nobody has talked about using only light to treat these diseases until now. We have found a totally new way of discovering these structures using just laser light," Hanczyc noted.
Photo acoustic therapy helps detect the malfunctioning proteins; if the detected protein aggregates are removed, the disease is principally cured, new study claims.
Today amyloid malfunctioning proteins are treated with chemicals, which are highly toxic and harmful for those treated ones.
Researchers claim that with multi photon laser technique the patients do not need chemical treatment or even surgery for wiping harmful proteins.
