Every family might have a rebel child and for Britain’s royal family that rebel kid is the third-in-line to the throne, Prince Harry, who has been implicated in several scandals during his youth life.

The 27-year-old prince was first sent to the Featherstone Lodge Rehabilitation Centre in south London for a day in January 2002, when he was just 16.

His disappointed dad sent him to the drugs rehabilitation clinic after the teenager confessed to smoking cannabis and heavy drinking.

Actually, he had been taking the class B drug with older teenagers at Highgrove, at private parties in Gloucestershire and in an outbuilding at a local pub for a while since.
“One of the older teenagers encouraged Harry to experiment with the drug at a private party in Tetbury and, on one occasion, in a shed at the back of the Rattlebone Inn”, a family friend was reported as saying.

In October 2004, following the redhead prince’s exit from a London nightclub at 3 a.m., photographers rushed to take pictures, and a camera accidentally hit him in the face.

Following the incident, an enraged Harry engaged in a fight with the photographers surrounding him and punched one of them in the face, whose lip sustained a cut.

"In pushing the camera away, we understand that the photographer incurred a cut lip," a Clarence House spokesperson explained in a statement about the incident.

In 2005, the prince made headlines again, when he was caught wearing a red and black swastika and an army shirt with Nazi regalia for a friend’s 2005 "Colonial and Native"-themed costume party in West Littleton, Wilts.

After photos of his outfit emerged, people around the world were appalled by the prince's highly offensive garb. In an attempt to appease the public, the palace issued an apology on Harry's behalf.

"Prince Harry has apologized for any offense or embarrassment he has caused," a Clarence House spokesperson said in a statement. "He realizes it was a poor choice of costume."

In 2006, in a video he made with a friend, the third-in-line to the throne labeled fellow Sandhurst cadets as "paki" and "raghead".

Later, he was chastised by military officials and ordered to take anti-racist training. He was 24 at the time.

That incident seriously undermined the UK military’s authorities to showcase the army as a racially diverse, modern force which does not tolerate prejudice.

However, the Ministry of Defence (MoD)’s own surveys show that the UK Armed Forces suffer from problems including sexual harassment and a culture in which offensive language and behavior does not incur any punishment.

In 2010, animal rights activists described him as “heartless” and he was accused of animal cruelty after Prince Harry’s horse suffered a bloody injury during a polo match at the Guards Polo Club in Windsor Great Park, Berkshire.

An onlooker said that the prince continued to ride his horse while blood was visible on its flank.

Andrew Tyler, director of animal welfare charity Animal Aid, said: “It was a heartless and utterly selfish thing to do.

“Polo is a very rough activity that causes stress and injuries to horses. The use of spurs in such a fast-moving event is a vicious indulgence.

“Prince Harry comes from a background of hunting and shooting which is at odds with the vast majority of the British public”.

Tony Moore, chairman of the Fight Against Animal Cruelty in Europe, said: “Prince Harry is cruel. If a rider uses their spurs in a way that injures a horse then that is cruel”.

In 2011, during a wild August night out in Croatia, Harry got a little carried away as he used a pool's stone ledge as his own personal dance-floor -- and fell in. After he hit the water, Harry brushed it off and kept on groovin'.

And the most scandalous of all experiences Harry has had. After a booze-fueled Vegas weekend in mid-August, 2012, he was photographed, totally naked during a rousing match of strip billiards. The nude photos scandal was another blow to the royal family’s dwindling popularity.

Prince Harry’s origin has also been a matter for question since people did compare his looks to former cavalry officer James Hewitt, who was late Princess Diana’s secret lover for five years.

Actually, the late princess was forced by the royal family to blood test her younger son, Prince Harry, and it was to prove he was not the offspring of an affair with the army officer.

Senior royals, notably Queen Elizabeth's husband Prince Philip, feared that their son, Prince Charles, who was married to Diana, might not have been the real father of Harry, who was born in September 1984.

Diana had previously had a passionate affair with army officer Major James Hewitt, and there had been rumours that Harry -- who, like Hewitt, has red hair -- was the product of that relationship.

Prince Charles, the heir to the British throne, divorced Diana in 1996, and a year after, in 1997, she mysteriously died in a Paris car crash.
