Iran President Hassan Rouhani says “constructive interaction” with the international community tops the foreign policy agenda of the new Iranian administration. “The administration of the Islamic Republic of Iran intends to put logical and constructive interaction with other countries and international bodies on top of its foreign policy agenda, in order to safeguard and promote the rights of the government and the nation,” Rouhani said on Tuesday in response to a message of congratulation from Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on the inauguration of the new Iranian administration. “With your cooperation, I am willing to found a new path in interactions between the two countries in political, economic and cultural fields,” the Iranian president said. Rouhani noted that the eagerness of Tehran and Tokyo for having broader ties over the past decades and their strong bonds have laid the groundwork for further cooperation under his administration of moderation.
