An accident at a nuclear power plant in the US state of Arkansas has killed one worker and injured three others but did not cause radiation, according to the Arkansas Department of Health.
The industrial accident occurred on Sunday morning at Entergy Corp's Arkansas Nuclear One, a water reactor, in Russellville, when a heavy piece of equipment that workers were moving from the plant's turbine building fell.
Entergy said the plant automatically shut down and the accident did not affect the plant's reactors.
Arkansas Department of Health issued a statement, saying the accident took place in a "non-radiation area, and there has been no risk to public health and safety identified."
The company provides electricity to 2.8 million customers in Arkansas and the neighboring states of Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi. It has around 15,000 employees.
