The fifth Fajr International Inventions and Innovations Exhibition (FINEX) has kicked off in the Iranian capital, Tehran, Press TV has reported. The exhibition which is to introduce high-tech inventions and innovations of Iran and some foreign countries kicked off at Tehran's Grand Prayer Grounds on February 4, 2013. Organized by Iran’s National Elites Foundation, the exhibition is mounted to provide an opportunity for innovators, inventors and technologists to display their latest scientific achievements. About 60 inventors and innovators from 30 world countries including Germany, South Korea, Poland, China, Brazil, Turkey, Russia, Croatia and Iraq have flocked to the event. According to the report, some 260 inventions are slated to be commercialized at the end of the exhibition. Iran ranked 17th in terms of science production in the world in 2012, according to the latest statistics released by the Scopus database. According to the statistics published in the journal Nature, the country also ranked first in scientific growth in the world in 2011.
