The so-called Syrian National Coalition has called for more arms from foreign countries to continue its deadly war against the Syrian government and its people.
Georg Sabra, Vice-President of the so-called Syrian National Coalition (SNC), along with 2 other senior member of the group attended a conference in Paris on Monday, to plead for more arms and financial aid from foreign countries.
The group is asking for half a billion dollars in aid to form a transitional government.
French Foreign Minister, Laurent Fabius, called on participants at the conference's opening ceremony to keep their promise to support the SNC. Members from Western and some Arab nations are also attending the meeting.
Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011. Many people, including large numbers of Army and security personnel, have been killed in the violence.
Damascus says certain Western states, especially the United States, and their regional allies are fueling the deadly unrest.
Syrian President Bashar Assad said on Monday that the country’s army could win the battle against the militants if Turkey stopped supporting them.
“If the Turkish border was closed to tackle the smuggling of arms and militants, this matter would be resolved in only two weeks.”
