Israeli forces shot and killed 17-year-old Sameer Ahmad Awad on Tuesday morning in the village of Budrus, Northwest of Ramallah. According to family members, Sameer was heading home from school when he was fatally wounded.
Since the occupation forces had not contacted an ambulance to carry away the wounded Palestinian, he was taken to Ramallah government hospital in a civilian car, which handed over the body to a Palestinian ambulance on the way. Sameer was shot in his head, chest and legs.
After his death was declared, the body of Sameer was taken back to his hometown of Budrus, where the funeral procession took place. Hundreds of Palestinians participated in the procession, which ended by an Israeli raid of the Budrus cemetery.
Israeli forces attacked the cemetery during Sameer’s funeral and dispersed the mourners by shooting rubber coated bullets and tear gas canisters into the cemetery.
Confrontations took place between occupation forces and village youth after the Israeli raid on the Budrus cemetery. Dozens of mourners as well as stone throwing youth sustained gas suffocation injuries.
