An 18-year-old man in Uruguay has attempted to imitate a recent massacre that occurred at the US Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown by opening fire at a medical clinic. On Sunday, authorities said that there were no injuries from the shooting by the 18-year-old, whose identity was not revealed, at the clinic in the city of Paysandu, located 370 kilometers (230 miles) north of the capital, on Saturday. The teen initially told police that his goal was to commit suicide after copying the massacre in Newtown in the US state of Connecticut, which claimed the lives of 20 children and six adults on December 14. The Uruguayan assailant reportedly went to a secondary school first; however, after seeing an insufficient number of people there, he chose to target the clinic instead. He was arrested by police and taken to a psychiatric clinic. The incident came after a 20-year-old, identified as Adam Lanza, killed the twenty children and six women at the elementary school in Newtown. CAH/SZH/HJL
