Israeli soldiers have opened fire on a Palestinian teenager and killed him in the city of al-Khalil (Hebron) in the occupied West Bank.
Witnesses said that Mohammed Ziad Sulaima was shot up to six times near an Israeli checkpoint in the Palestinian city on Wednesday.
Israeli police claimed that the 16-year-oil boy was carrying a pistol that experts later discovered that it "was a toy made of metal."
The shooting triggered clashes between Palestinian protesters and Israeli forces.
Israeli forces fired tear gas and live ammunition to disperse the angry protesters.
On Monday, Israeli troops killed a Palestinian in the northern West Bank in a similar incident. Israelis have also killed two other Palestinians in the city during the past month.
