Head of Lebanon’s Islamic Unification Movement (IUM) Sheikh Bilal Shaaban has hailed Iran’s role in the repeated victories of the Palestinian resistance movement against the Zionist regime of Israel.

Shaaban praised the undeniable role of the Iranian government and nation in 2000 and 2006 victories of the Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement as well as the victories of Gazans in 2008 and 2012 .

He made the remarks in a Tuesday meeting with Iranian ambassador to Lebanon Ghazanfar Roknabadi in Beirut.

Shaaban added that the victory of Gaza in the eight-day war against Israel has had such strong reverberations throughout Arab and Muslim countries that even those opposed to the resistance front had no choice but to express happiness over it.

More than 160 Palestinians, including women and children, were killed and about 1,200 others were injured in the Israeli attacks on Gaza. In retaliation, Palestinian resistance fighters fired rockets and missiles into Israeli cities, killing at least five Israelis.

The violence ended after the Israeli regime and the Palestinian resistance movement of Hamas agreed on an Egyptian-brokered cease-fire.

Shaaban said if the United States and its allies supported the establishment of democracy and the administration of justice in the world, they would have started it from the Palestinian territories.

Roknabadi, for his part, said the enemies of humanity are exploiting freedom of speech to kill innocent people in different countries in order to implement their monopolistic policies.
