The victims, two men and two women, were found lying face-down and lined next to each other on a side yard of the property.
Los Angeles City Councilman Mitchell Englander, who represents the area, said the house apparently served as an unlicensed boarding house.
Captain William Hayes of the Los Angeles Police Department Robbery-Homicide Division said police were investigating the incident but no arrests had been made.
“At this point in time, it’s very early in the stages. We’ve got conflicting information from witnesses. We’re trying to sort through all of that and put the story together,” Hayes said.
