National Iranian hockey team has routed Uzbekistan and claimed the championship of the fourth edition of the Men’s Indoor Asia Cup hockey tournament in Thailand. The Iranian team defeated their Uzbek opponents 8-2 in the last match of the competition held in Saraburi city, located 108 kilometers (67 miles) north of the Thai capital of Bangkok, on Sunday. Iranian hockey players crushed Chinese Taipei 20-1 on Saturday morning, and overcame Thailand A team 13-0 later on the day to advance into the final match. Iranian sportsmen defeated the Kazakhstan squad 18-1 in their opening match on November 20. They overwhelmed Thailand B squad 21-0 in their second game on November 21, and routed their Uzbek rivals 10-1 in their third match on November 22. The 4th edition of the Men’s Indoor Asia Cup hockey tournament opened on November 20, and will wrap up on November 25. MP/PKH
