A Turkish soldier has been killed and four others injured during clashes with members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in the eastern province of Tunceli.
A large group of PKK fighters, armed with rocket launchers and long-barreled weapons, attacked the Sehit Mehmet Gendarmerie Station in the town of Nazimiye from three different directions on Saturday evening, Xinhua reported.
Then a fierce fire fight broke out between the PKK militants and Turkish security forces in which one Turkish soldier was slain and four others sustained injuries.
Many ambulances were dispatched to the site afterwards.
On September 18, ten Turkish soldiers were killed and 70 others injured when PKK militants attacked a military convoy in the eastern province of Bingol.
The convoy was traveling between the provinces of Bingol and Mus when it was hit by projectiles fired by rocket launchers near the village of Kardesler, which is situated 184 kilometers (114 miles) east of Ankara.
Bingol Governor Hakan Guvencer said the convoy of three buses, one midibus, one minibus, and 10 armored vehicles was transporting 200 unarmed soldiers to their military units.
The PKK has been fighting for an autonomous Kurdish region inside Turkey since the 1980s. The conflict has left tens of thousands of people dead.
